The Georgian era is a period in British history 1714 to 1830. The kings were all named George: George I, George II, George III and George IV. The sub-period of the Regency is defined by the Regency of George IV as Prince of Wales during the illness of his father George III. The definition of the Georgian era is often extended to include the short reign of William IV, which ended with his death in 1837.

The Countess of Randolph, nee Lady Sophia Baneham is furious, mere hours after her wedding she has learned the truth of her new husband. Sophia aka Lady Scandal along with her friends Lavinia (Lady Vice) and Thea (Duchess Decadence) run an illegal gaming enterprise and are known far and wide as the Furies. Sophia believed Hugh, the Earl of Randolph was different and made a wager with him, which ended in her marriage to him – a fate she looked forward to at the time, thinking marriage to him would protect her from her father’s enemies, namely Kasai, but that was before she learned he worked for her late and very much unlamented father and now she wants nothing more than to be done with him.

Hugh did marry Sophia to protect her from Kasai, but he knows there is more to his desire to wed her than a promise to her father to keep her safe. He knew she would be angry when she learned the truth, but he didn’t expect her to disappear off the face of the earth for weeks and he definitely didn’t expect to find her working on a farm run by a Quaker! But to win her back, Hugh agrees to work alongside her and hopes to build something lasting with her. But when their enemies find them, will they work together to vanquish them or will Kasai win the day?

This was a very well-written, nicely paced book with wonderful characters and a very intricate plot. This book has a bit of everything, secrets, lies, steamy love scenes, intrigue, spies, great secondary characters, surprising twists and turns, and finally a lovely ending complete with an epilogue. This is the second book in the series and while I didn’t read the first book, I was able to follow the plot with no issues, but I will be reading the first book as soon as possible and I will definitely be reading the final book in the series too!

10 months after their reconciliation, Lord Nicholas Asquith and his wife Mariana are embarking on a second honeymoon. But much to Mariana’s surprise, the location of their trip is not Paris, it is the cottage in Scotland where they spent their first – disastrous – honeymoon. But Nicholas has a reason for his choice and he hopes it will further heal the rift he caused all those years ago when he left her.

This was a very short, but very delightful and long-awaited epilogue to Nicholas and Mariana’s original story “Three Lessons in Seduction” and while you could read this short story without reading their book, it is my recommendation to read the stories in order. This book shows us their HEA, along with a little bit of steam, crashing the highland games, and finally affirmation of their deep and abiding love.
