Tracy’s Review:
The Knight’s Runaway Maiden by Nicole Locke
Tracy’s rating: 4 of 5 stars
Series: Lovers and Legends, #11
Release Date: April 27, 2021
After the death of his brother Ian and his promise to help his brother Reynold thwart their parents, Balthus of Warstone sets out to find his brother Ian’s missing wife and children, because Reynold is sure she has a parchment that will help them find the Jewell of Kings.
Finding Severine and the boys was not hard, but keeping her from escaping time and again was proving to be the real task! Severine left her husband years ago in an attempt to save her sons from the evil that seems inherent to the Warstone family. Severine is terrified when Balthus finds them, but she also notices that he is injured and wonders if she heals him, can she sway him to her side and have him help her evade his brother?
Balthus is shocked when Severine heals his severed hand and finally stops the constant pain – he knows he should tell her that Ian is dead, but he fears the repercussions and doesn’t want to lose her. Balthus has always wanted Severine and spending time with her and the boys is a dream come true, one he knows will end as soon as she learns the truth.
This book, much like all the stories related to the Warstone siblings is not a light read, there is a lot going on and at times it is hard to know what is really happening. Balthus is a very complex character who has much to overcome and accept about himself before he gets his HEA and Severine is the perfect woman to help him find his way. The book is full of secrets, regrets, fears, longing, warmish love scenes, and the promise of HEA. This is the eleventh book in the series and I would recommend reading the books in order for the best reader experience.
